IMSANZ NZ invites Physician leaders and future leaders to a discussion forum to talk over relevant issues and solutions for general practice.

This session is open to IMSANZ members and non-IMSANZ colleagues working in leadership roles in general and acute care medicine, medical assessment unit, hospital in home or those who aspire to be in a leadership position.

IMSANZ NZ IS happy to announce they will be hosting a SPDP workshop on Wednesday 3 March 2027. You may register during the conference registration process.

These are offered for IN-PERSON delegates only.

SPDP 1 | Practical Skills for Supervisors
This workshop incorporates the overarching themes of developing trainee expertise and using coaching techniques to improve feedback practice.

It focuses on delivering feedback using 2 frameworks: the GROW model and the 4 areas of feedback. By applying these models, supervisors can help trainees progress toward expert performance.

Objectives

Develop strategies for creating an effective learning culture
Describe the impact of feedback on trainee behaviour and performance
Increase confidence in providing effective feedback to trainees
Increase confidence in supporting trainees who are not at the expected standard

Participants are strictly limited to 28.

SPDP 3 | Teaching and Facilitating Learning for Safe Practice
Teaching and facilitating learning for safe practice is a complex and necessary part of physician training. The challenges of undertaking work-based learning and assessment along with the complexities of the healthcare environment are many and varied.

This workshop offers techniques and solutions to these challenges that will help supervisors in their vital role.

Use safe and effective work-based assessments/activities to guide learning.
Make evidence-based assessment on trainee performance.
Use evidence-based tools to improve supervisory practice.
