A general physician at Auckland City Hospital, Professor Phillippa Poole is currently Head of the Department of Medicine at The University of Auckland. Prior to this she was the Head of the Medical Programme for nearly 10 years. She has researched on and contributed to selection and education at all stages of the medical training continuum. She is a past President of IMSANZ.
Enhancing Continuity In Medical Education And Training
Some may consider the ‘gold standard’ for learning medicine to be one master and one apprentice, working together in caring for patients from admission to discharge. There are now numerous disrupters to this. This talk will examine whether the ‘old days’ really were better, as well as discussing ways that greater continuity might be built into education and training.
