Dr Cat Chang is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician working at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand. Following her primary medical degree from the University of Auckland, Cat split her training between Waikato and Sydney where she completed a sleep medicine fellowship at the Woolcock Institute and RPA Hospital. Cat has a keen interest in airways disease and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (Auckland) in 2011 following a series of studies looking into cardiac complications associated with COPD. Cat leads the Respiratory Research Unit at Waikato Hospital and is a named investigator for multiple HRC and other non-pharma funded studies. Cat is on the steering committee of the trans-Tasman PACE study and is active with national and international research collaborations. Her current research interest is in the interaction between cardiac and respiratory diseases and translational treatment in patients with chronic respiratory disease. In her spare time, Cat is the Clinical Director for Respiratory & Sleep Medicine at Waikato Hospital and mum to the cutest 8 year old girl in the world.
